One of my biggest challenges in creating a clean diet not a lack of eating veggies(I love them), or eating lean protein (seafood/egg whites makes up about 70% of my weekly diet)...it's overcoming my cravings for sugar!
Most Americans are consuming 46 more calories a day from sugar-sweetened drinks than two decades ago. (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition). This increase of 46 calories can add up to a gain of 5 pounds per year if those calories aren't cut from another area of your diet. Try a citrus wedge or unsweetened iced tea instead.
Unfortunately this isn't my quick fix. I don't drink pop or fruit juices. My cravings go to dark chocolate, and ice cream (luckily non fat yogurt makes me happy). It takes loads of discipline and small periodic treats to keep my 'green-eyed monster' at bay! If you have any other tips for this issue, write back and let me know.
